Praziquantel was given at 90 mg/kg body-weight in 3 equal doses on consecutive days to 22 patients with Clonorchis/Opisthorchis eggs in faeces and/or duodenal fluid. One week and one month later all of 21 patients were stool-negative and only a single positive case was found after 6 and 12 months. By one week only 2 of 21 patients had eggs in duodenal fluid and only single patients did so after 6 and 12 months. Only 2 of the patients required repeated treatments. 18 of the patients were from Laos and they were pobably infected with O. viverrini. The 3 from Korea probably had C. sinensis and the one from Siberia probably O. felineus. No serious side-effects of treatment were observed.
