The test of histamine release from leukocytes was used in 36 patients with pollinosis. The diagnostic value of the test for allergic diseases was established. IgE-antibodies fixed on the cells are responsible for histamine release from the patients' leukocytes; this is confirmed by the histamine release test in response to the addition of anti-IgE. The presence of Ca ions is necessary for anaphylactic release of histamine from leukocytes. Prostaglandin E (PgE2) inhibits the anaphylactic release of histamine. A correlation between the anaphylactic release of histamine and the level of allergen-specific IgE-antibodies in the blood was established.
