The purpose of the study was checking the correctness of the process of food product dyeing and comparing it with the presently accepted recipe standards for the amount of the added dyes and also with the accepted norm with regard to the composition of dye mixture used for this aim. The investigations were carried out in state factories and private enterprises. In all, 1326 samples of various food products were studied and in 283 cases deviations from the accepted standard recipes were demonstrated. Of 367 samples of dyes, in 30 cases they failed to comply with the accepted standard composition. The analyses were done by the method published in the Yearbooks of the National Institute of Hygiene, 1974, Vol. 25 and 47.
