Lipid mobilizing activity and lipolytic activity of serum and blood lipids in viral hepatitis in children

Serum levels of total lipids, cholesterol, triglycerides, lipoproteins, phospholipoproteins, free fatty acids, post-heparin lipolytic activity and lipid-mobilizing activity were studied in children with viral hepatitis. An augmented lipid level was noted in the acute stage of the disease. The increase was most evident in the fractions of .beta.-lipoproteins and .beta.-phospholipoproteins. The observed increase in free fatty acid level with concomitant increase in the post-heparin lipolytic activity and a decreased lipid-mobilizing activity indicate possible disturbances in triglycerides transport from blood vessels to tissues.
