In 107 patients with VH serum LAP, GAP, aspartic aminotransferase (AspAT), alanine aminotransferase (A1AT) activity, bilirubin levels and thymol turbidity test in 10-days intervals were determined. Fifty-seven patients were treated with GCS during 20-days period. Fifty patients were not given GCS. Statistically significant increase of LAP and GAP activity was demonstrated in patients treated with GCS as compared with the control group. The withdraw of the jaundice was significantly quicker and normalization of the increased AspAT and A1AT activity and thymol turbidity test was slower in the patients treated with GCS. The possibility of cholestasis induced by GCS in the course of VH was discussed.
