Ultrastructural changes in the cerebral cortex of 26-day-old rabbits subjected to normobaric hyperoxia in the 20th day of life

The development of changes in the cerebral cortex of 24 day old rabbits 4 days after hyperoxia were studied. Ten rabbits were subjected to hyperoxia for 6 or 24 h. The material for the studies was taken on the 16th day after the experiment, i.e., in the 36th day of life. Ultrastructural examination revealed that hyperoxia leads to irreversible changes in cerebral cortex nerve cells. The changes occurring in the conditions of normobaric hyperoxia developed further, depending on the duration of hyperoxia and the time of survival.
