Unilateral cervical vagotomy resulted in a significant increase of the mitotic incidence in the adrenal cortex of male rats at 14 days after the operation. This finding suggests the involvement of the vagus nerve in the control of adrenal cortex cells growth, even though the mechanism remains to be elucidated.
