Intestinal involvement in the sea-blue histiocyte syndrome

The histological findings attained by optical and ultrastructural observation of the intestinal mucosa from a patient with the familial form of the sea-blue histiocyte syndrome were described. An infiltration by the characteristic histiocytes was present in the lamina propria and was similar to that found in other RE sites. Some aspects of the scarce reports on this matter were commented on, and the diagnostic value of jejunal biopsy in this syndrome, especially in those cases presenting gastrointestinal symptoms, was stressed.
