The ACI strain shows high immune responsiveness to grafts, whereas the Brown-Norway (BN) strain responds poorly in proliferative reactions with mitogens and in the mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR). The results of heart transplantation and MLR tests on the F2 and backcross generations obtained from the 2 strains indicated that the high immunogenicity of the ACI strain was linked to the MHC, but the low responsiveness of the BN strain was not.
