Calves, sensitized by cutaneous application of dinitrochlorobenzene, developed lesions of delayed hypersensitivity at the sites of application 9-14 days later. Leukocytes from sensitized calves, collected 10-16 days after sensitized calves, reacted in an in vitro leukocyte adherence inhibition test with the same hapten in water soluble form, dinitrobenzenesulfonate. The leukocyte adherence inhibition microtest which was simple, rapid, reproducible and amenable to rigorous statistical analysis, should be useful in many areas of bovine immunology.
