Trial of hamycin in field outbreak of aspergillosis

In tests on a field outbreak of aspergillosis (Aspergillus fumigatus) in chicks, hamycin was administered at 1500 units/ml of drinking water for 16 days with the dose halved for the last 3 days. Of the 71 medicated chicks, 4 died compared with 16 in the control group. Administration of hamycin within the first 3 days of onset of symptoms is strongly advocated.
