Isolated infarct of the right atrium manifesting as a sinus node block and ending fatally

A case history is presented of a 60-yr-old man with isolated infarction of the right auricle complicated by impairment of rhythm and congestive circulatory insufficiency. Especially unique was the onset of atrioventricular rhythm alternating with fibrillar tachyarrhythmia, apparently due to arrest of the sinoatrial node. The disease manifested itself with symptoms of macrofocal infarction of a ventricle: strong pains in the heart area, severe clinical picture and high activity of serum enzymes. ECG showed no indications of macrofocal myocardial infarction in any location; intravital diagnosis was further complicated by atrioventricular rhythm and retrograde P wave.
