The ability of Ro 05-9963 [(1-(2-nitroimidazol-l-gl)-propan-2,3-diol)] to radiosensitize mice in vivo is reported. The sensitizing action of misonidazole and its metabolite are compared. Some of their chemical properties and toxicity towards hypoxic and aerobic cells are discussed in order to ascertain the potential usefulness of Ro 05-9963 as a chemical radiosensitizer.
