Effect of physical exercise on the indicators of acid-base equilibrium and oxygen tension in the blood of patients with hypertension

The indices of acid-alkaline balance and O2 tension in the blood of patients with hypertension at rest and in measured physical loads were studied. After physical loads patients with hypertension of the 1st and 2nd stages manifested a higher increase in blood pH than healthy persons; reduction in O2 tension in the blood of patients in the 2nd stage was more characteristic than in healthy persons. In the recovery period the O2 tension in hypertensive patients increased to a lesser degree than in healthy persons. After physical stress the number of healthy persons with normal indices of acid-alkaline balance in the blood and the rate of impairments in these indices in hypertension patients increased.
