Alterations in basal gastric acidity and pepsin were studied in cats anesthetized with chloralose, after electrical stimulation of the body of the caudate nucleus. Significant increase in gastric acidity was observed. There was an apparent decrease in pepsin secretion. The significance of the response is discussed.
