H2O2-induced chemiluminescence of blood serum from humans, dogs and rats was studied by photometry. A total of 7 parameters were evaluated including the amplitudes of the 1st and 2nd light flash, induction time of the 2nd light flash, and 3 rate constants. Analysis of rat blood showed that parameters of serum luminescence depended on serum and H2O2 levels. The effect of temperature, pH and time was also studied. Rat serum was characterized by 2 light flashes, dog serum by 2 flashes in only 40% of the cases, and human serum by 1 flash. Chemiluminescent studies of blood serum provide additional information on the functional condition of the body. Analysis of the indices of chemiluminescence of blood serum from healthy humans and patients and their correlation with other indices (e.g., sex, age) may be valuable in differential diagnoses.
