Male guineapigs in 2 groups of 12 weighing about 100 g and 1 to 2 months old were given to appetite an artificial diet deficient in vitamin C without or with 10 mg ascorbic acid daily in their drinking water. After 21 days the guineapigs were killed. Ascorbic acid in the plasma and testes of the deprived guineapigs was about one-third of that in controls. There was a small but significant decrease in cholesterol in testes of the deprived group. There was no change in testosterone in plasma or testes. There was no difference in the histology of the testes of the 2 groups.
