Human ascaris--purification of chymotrypsin inhibitor and properties of partially purified chymotrypsin and trypsin inhibitors

Chymotrypsin inhibitor of Ascaris lumbricoides var hominis was purified over 50-fold by a combined procedure of cold trichloroacetic acid values for chymotrypsin and trypsin inhibitors were 8.3 and 88 nmol, respectively. The enzyme inhibitor complex could be dissociated by heating or treatment with 8 M urea or 2.5% TCA. Contact with KCl (1-4 M) or pH change did not dissociate the complex.
