Patulin, a potent myocotoxin [Penicillium patulum], at 100 .mu.g/25g body wt (LD50 = 250 .mu.g/25g body wt), fed orally, decreases significantly the levels of total lipids, phospholipids and triglycerides in the intestine of rats. It also interferes with the function of membrane bound enzyme, Na+-K+ dependent ATPase.
