In 82 patients with multiple hydatid cysts only 3 died after surgical intervention, and the treatment was satisfactory in 69% of those with infection originating in the lungs. Immunoelectrophoresis using arc 5 was valuable both in diagnosis and evaluation of therapeutic response.
