The appearance of hydatid cysts of the liver as revealed by Gray Scale ultrasonography is discussed with regard to 12 patients seen from January 1977 to March 1980. 5 cases are described and illustrated (collapsed, calcified hydatid cyst; simple hydatid cyst; primary hydatid with daughter cysts; infected hydatid cyst; ruptured hydatid cyst).
