.gamma.-Globulin preparations from the human placenta underwent progressive proteolysis upon storage in vials. The effect of pH on proteolytic deterioration of the incubated .gamma.-globulin solutions was determined in preparations additionally purified on Sephadex G-200. The degree of proteolysis was evaluated by an increase in the concentration of free amino acids in the material under study.
