Competency-based education in a career mobility program in dietetics

The model for competency based education being used by Mercy College in its pilot career mobility programin dietetics is described. The program is designed to educate dietetic technicians who may progress to a coordinated undergraduate program and become registered dietitians. The first phase of the project development listing of the competency statements is discussed. The entrylevel competencies for dietetic technician and dietitian are listed. These encompass several roles which characterize the work of such personnel.
