Natural infection of Calomys musculinus (Rodentia, Cricetidae) by Trypanosoma cruzi

Near Cordoba, Argentine, a trypanosome was isolated from Calomys musculinus which appeared to be Trypanosoma cruzi judging by its morphology and general behaviour. Similar trypanosomes were present in 14.9% of 214 C. musculinus examined. It produced mild infections in BALB/c mice when injected, and it developed in Triatoma infestans. The animal host is widely distributed in Argentine. There are 28 references.
