The hematocrit and the plasmatic and urinary electrolytes of 10 individuals subjected for 2 h to the hyperthermal stress were examined. All of them showed an increase in ARP plasmatic renin activity during clinostatism and orthostatism, reaching maximum values at the end of the hyperthermia, then decreased progressively and slowly. Different factors may concur in determining the higher renin release after hyperthermia, the decrease in the plasmatic renal flow, the reduction in Na concentration at the macula densa and the probable elevation of the sympathetic tonus connected with the hyperthermal stress.
