Tiberal (chlormethyl 2-methyl-5-nitro-1-imidazolethanol) was given orally to 11 children one to 7-years-old with acute amoebic dysentery in a total dosage of 125 to 550 mg daily (divided into 3 doses) for 5 consecutive days. Symptoms cleared and Entamoeba histolytica disappeared from the faeces within 3 days. There were no side effects.
