Dirofilaria immitis and Dipetalonema reconditum infections in Oklahoma dogs

In Oklahoma, between April 1974 and March 1975, D. immitis microfilariae were found in 4.5% and Dipetalonema reconditum microfilariae in 4.9% of 286 dogs more than 6 months old admitted to the Small Animal Clinic; adult D. immitis was found in 7.3% of 150 dogs examined P.M. D. immitis infection is thus endemic in Oklahoma State. The modified Knott's test was superior to the modified membrane test and direct wet mount.
