The cells of the spleen and the peritoneal cavity of intact and immunized mice were studied by an original method combining determination of the RNA and protein synthesis and measuring the DNA content in the same cell. The early activation of metabolism was not accompanied by increased proliferation of the lymphocytes from both sides.
