Rats developing the first month after birth under conditions of periodic cold exposures displayed earlier establishment of erythropoiesis as compared with control animals. This was expressed in a shorter period of physiological anemia and in increase of blood volume. As a result of improvement of body and tissue blood supply there occurred an acceleration of growth and development of experimental animals together with economy of energy expenditure at rest in comparison with control ratlings of the same age.
