Bacilli pyocyanei frequently resist the usual antibiotics. Yet, the number of (meningeal, cutaneous, otitic, bronchial, pleural, fistular, etc.) infection cases which can be ascribed to them seem to be on the increase. Their obstinate nature is one of their characteristic features. It therefore seemed reasonable to oppose them with the help of therapeutics different from those generally suggested. The existence of bacteriophages active' on the bacillus pyocyaneus has been known for a long while now. However, the use of stock bacteriophages proves to be of little efficacy, but a selective adaptation of a variety of bacteriophages on the patient's isolated strain results in a much more efficient action. While a culture on the normal nutritious broth may be sufficient for certain external applications, it is absolutely necessary to prcceedon a special medium, i.e. diluted human serum, if one wishes to introduce it without risk in any other way (intrarachidially, intravenously, intrapleurally, etc.). A certain number of casés successfully treated by this method are reported in this article.
