Occurrence of infections from micro-organisms resisting to antibiotics has led to the use of bacteriophages which, adapted to the provocative agent previously isolated from the organism and then reproduced on human serum media, can be administered through any way whatever (intravenous, intraspinal, intraventricular, intrapericardial, etc.). Thus, it has been possible to treat with success obstinate otites caused by the staphylococcus aureus and a pyocyanic bacterium, a septicaemia from staphylococci and a fistula caused by pyocyanic bacteria. In spite of its greater complexity (the provocative agent must be isolated and the bacteriophage adapted), this anti-infectious technique is very suitable in cases which prove unamenable to the usual antibacterial treatments.
