Six dogs received i.v. injections of 113NaI. A blood sample was then obtained from the femoral vein, and a basal curve was drawn representing percentage values of deflections of the standard tolerance interval of pancreatic flow from 5-2 h, which was due to diminution of local intramural pressure at the level of the femoral vein. An i.v. injection of Regitine was given, and the corresponding curve obtained from femoral venous blood was compared with the reference curve. Regitine apparently is not suitable for interrupting the sensitive baroreceptor reflex derived from the intramural peripheral venous system nor for extrapolating the regional pancreatic vascularization which is early and intense. Regitine acts at the level of autoregulation phenomena of the pancreatic circulation tending to exhaust the peripheral reflex.
