Chlamydia was found in cervical secretions in 6 out of 21 patients. The serological evidence of continuing chlamydial infection in 5 patients with acute salpingitis together with the occurrence of Chlamydia in the Fallopian tubes in 1 of the 5 may imply that Chlamydia subgroup A is a causative agent in acute salpingitis.
