Behavior of blood gases, blood lactates and acid-base equilibrium in albino rats at rest and in muscular fatigue, after administration of beta-phenylisopropylamine or methamphetamine

The pseudoenergizing drugs, .beta.-phenylisopropylamine and methamphetamine, were administered to rats at rest or to rats on a work routine. Plasma lactic acid, O2, CO2, pH and HCO3- were measured, after sacrifice, in these rats and in the controls. The administration of both drugs to resting and fatigued animals caused a tendency to acidosis. Plasma pH decreased, but variable effects were recorded for the other parameters studied.
