The new simplified method for estimating relative fitness of patients is modified to obtain the values for male and female patients separately in hereditary abnormalities in which selection intensity differs between sexes. If Ap' and Ao' are frequencies of affected individuals among fathers of patients and those among offspring of male patients, respectively, and x' and x" are relative frequencies of male and female patients in the general population, the relative fitness of male patients is given by Ap'/Ao' .cntdot. x' + x"/2x'. Similarly, the value for female patients is Ap"/Ao" .cntdot. x' + x"/2x", where Ap" and Ao" are frequencies of affected individuals among mothers of patients and those among offspring of female patients, respectively.
