Wax moth [Galleria mellonella] larvae were inoculated with Tipula iridescent virus intrahemocoelically shortly before pupation; at different times after infection 3H-thymidine was administered several times. In 3 replicates single and total isotope doses were different. After isolation and purification of the virus its radioactivity was measured. Infected tissues were examined by autoradiography. To obtain virus with sufficient radioactivity the isotope should be introduced in fractions for several days in the 2nd half of the infective cycle (the 8th and 11th day after the inoculation). The tested total doses did not exceed 20 .mu.Ci/caterpillar. A dose for a single introduction was 2-10 .mu.Ci/caterpillar.
