Electromyographic studies in acute period of trichinellosis

Electromyographic (emg) studies were carried out on 24 patients with Trichinella spiralis, 5 with severe, 10 with moderate and 9 with mild forms of the disease. In most cases, abnormalities in emg traces were related to the severity of the disease and the intensity of the infection. Such abnormalities disappeared within a few months, paralleling improvement in clinical status and regression of histopathologic changes in muscle tissue.
