Two men aged 27 and 73 yr were admitted with headache, burring of vision and other symptoms Cryptococcus neoformans were isolated from cerebrospinal fluid. The younger patient was successfully treated with 5-fluorocytosine (5-FC), but the older man died despite some improvement in his condition with 5-FC therapy.
