Normal human mammary gland tissue and mammary adenocarcinomas were homogenized, and esterases in the supernatant were separated by acrylamide gel disk electrophoresis and stained and fixed. Normal tissues showed a pattern of 5 esterase bands while malignant tissues showed 8-9. It is suggested that the extra zones may be due to alterations in normal metabolic functions.
