Light and electron microscopic studies showed that the arachnoid granulations in calves fed large amounts of vitamin A were small and were covered with thin and small fibrous caps. There was reduction in height of epithelial cells of the lateral and third ventricular choroid plexuses and to a less degree that of the fourth ventricular choroid plexus. No change in ependymal cells was demonstrated. These changes, coupled with physiological evidence of decreased resistance to absorption of cerebrospinal fluid, suggested increased permeability.
