Acnerosacea-like generalized rubromycosis

The case of a 65-yr-old female with rubromycosis of the nose, inguinal-femoral region and under the mammary glands is reported. Microscopic investigation showed septate mycelium in scrapings from the lesions of the glabrous skin as well as of the skin and nails of the feet and hands. Trichophyton rubrum was isolated. The patient was successfully treated with the Hungarian preparation fungifen (1% pentachlorophenol in 70% alcohol).
