The syndrome of generalized capillary hyperpermeability is a rare condition characterized by recurrent episodes of hypovolemic shock and diffuse edema, associated with IgG monoclonal gammopathy. Pathophysiologically, this syndrome is caused by a sudden, reversible increase in capillary permeability, with a rapid transfer of plasma from the intravascular to the extravascular compartments. In the present study we report two new cases of this unusual condition and we review its clinical, pathophysiological and therapeutic aspects.
