Description of the inhalation infection by the WE strain of the lymphocytary choriomeningitis virus of the Mac. cynomolgus and Mac. rhesus monkey species, using a special flow-chamber with dirigible microclimatic conditioning. A considerably high sensitivity and susceptibility of both the species of monkeys has been established, and the approximate magnitude of the minimal lethal and infective inhalation doses of the virus have been determined. The lymphatic system played an important role in the evolution of the infection. No pathological changes in the respiratory tract could be demonstrated by radiography. However, histopathoiogically, lesions were noted in form of interstitial pneumonia with pulmonary oedema and tracheobronchitis, especially in Mac. rhesus.
