Ileocecal tuberculosis coexistent with schistosomal infestation

Histories of 2 cases seen in a hospital in New York, USA, are given of tuberculosis involving the ileocaecal region, complicated by coexisting schistosoma infection. Difficulties encountered in diagnosis are discussed. Ova of Schistosoma japonicum were detected in one of the patients, who was born in China, had migrated to Brazil and had been in the USA for 4 years.
