Forthy one cases of herpes zoster ophthalmicus were treated with subcutaneous injections of 2% emetin. Only in six cases there were no improvement. The author observed in 4 cases a quick receding of pains and the period of treatment was shortened to 1 month. This kind of therapy is indicated especially in the early period of the infection of the cornea with the virus of herpes spl. or varicella.
