Methyl-3 hydroxy-6 quinazoline dione-2-4 inhibits plant [Allium sativum] cell cytokinesis, modifying neither the duration of the cell cycle nor the duration of mitosis. Its addition to a solution of another compound enables a determination of the influence exerted by this compound on the duration of mitosis. This method, applied to phenylurethane, leads to a slowing down of mitosis followed by a somewhat quick adaptation of the cells.
