The fungi studied were Chlorophyllum molybdites, Podaxis pistillaris, Stemonitis ferruginea, Lycogala epidendrum, Fuligo septica, Ustilago maydis and Puccinia cynodontis. All of these are widely distributed and aerially disseminated but are not usually reported in air spora surveys. Of 78 patients skin tested, 44 (56%) reacted to 1 or more of the extracts of spores in 50% glycinerated Coca's solution.
