In a first group with a modified sedimentation method similar to the Westergren method it is shown that the addition of the thromobocide "Bencnd" (polysaccharide sulfuric acid ester)" speeds up the sedimentation rate in defibrinated blood much faster than in citrated plasma blood. In a second test with the differential blood sedimentation method it could be shown that the thrombocide, in itself unable to conglobate, increases the conglobation and sedimentation effect of the serum according to the quantity added. The conglobation and sedimentation effect of the fibrinogen is slowed up. The extent of the thrombocide effect differed from one scrum to the next. It was particularly prominent in a case of iron deficiency anemia. The gelatine solution "Behringwerke" (supplement) is aff ected similarly to serum. Unaffected by thrombocide are the albumin "Behringwerke" and gum arabic solutions. Polyviol solutions are made turbid and their conglobation effect is diminished, thus perhaps allowing a parallel to fibrinogen. In which fashion thrombocide is stimulating the conglobating linear proteins of the serum to increased conglobation and sedimentation effects on the erythrocytes, still remains to be determined.
