The ɑ-cytotoxic action of Cobalt chloride was investigated by histologic and enzimatic studies. Cobalt chloride produces an elective involvment of ɑ-cells (degranulation); contemporaneously the pancreatic elastasis values decrease. Calcium versenate showed a net protective action, but chloropromazide did not. Basing on the observed results, the hypothesis of an ɑ-cellular origin of pancreatic elastasis is prospected.
