Oral administration proved that 4-quinazolinone and derivatives retain their hypotensive action, and are well absorbed. During some preliminary experiments, aiming at recognizing possible ganglioplegic activity, the compounds and have been tested in the isolated, nicotine-stimulated intestine of guinea-pip; no signs of inhibitory activity were found. The reported results, as well as those concerning other compounds having an analogous structure, which are being tested, show that the hypotensive activity is a characteristic of the structure of 4-quinazolinone.
